Gilda's Club Twin Cities (GCTC) announced today it has named Elizabeth (Libby) Forbes Utter executive director. GCTC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, customized emotional and social support to people living with cancer. Utter is responsible for managing the organization's operations and fundraising.

"Gilda's Club Twin (News - Alert) Cities is a remarkable organization that is successfully fulfilling its promise to provide critical social and emotional support for anyone in our community impacted by cancer," said Utter. "I'm looking forward to helping GCTC continue building awareness of its important mission, broadening the scope of program delivery and ensuring its financial sustainability."

Prior to joining GCTC, Utter served as executive director for Gillette Children's Foundation and was the vice president of development for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. In addition, Utter has served as board member and volunteer for a variety of Twin Cities-based nonprofits. Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, Utter's career included leadership in executive search.

"On behalf of the board, staff, volunteers and the people we serve, I'm excited to announce that Libby is joining Gila's Club," said Rick Kleven, Gilda's Club Twin Cities board chair and vice president of government affairs for Thrivent Financial. "Libby brings a proven background in building relationships and ability to lead fundraising. Like so many of us, Libby too has been touched by cancer and understands the urgent and growing need for the services we provide."

Since opening in 2014, GCTC has experienced more than 25,000 visits for service by 2,000-plus people to its warm and welcoming clubhouse facility. While offering over 125 free program activities per month, the organization will continue to expand its services with an emphasis on providing access to a wider geographic area and for more diverse communities and children, teens and families.
