All Burlington Stores Adopt a Local Classroom in Celebration of World Teacher's Day

Today, in honor of World Teacher's Day, Burlington Stores is proud to announce their adoption of 599 classrooms nationwide through AdoptAClassroom.org, granting each classroom $1,000 to fund new school supplies so that students have the supplies they need to learn and succeed. The total donation of nearly $600k has allowed all Burlington Stores to adopt a local classroom within their community to help off-set teachers out of pocket expense.

This World Teacher's Day donation comes on the heels of a successful back-to-school in store campaign at Burlington Stores, which collected over $1.55 million for AdoptAClassroom.org. The remaining funds are distributed to schools in neighborhoods where Burlington opens new stores this fall and next spring. To celebrate a grand opening, Burlington adopts a school with a $10,000 donation so that the teachers and their students have new school supplies. The nationwide campaign kicked-off in partnership with musical artist and actor Common, who served as the ambassador for the cause.

"As a caring company, Burlington is committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and we are honored to have partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org this past back-to-school season. We are excited that each Burlington location is able to adopt a local classroom in their community and when we open new stores, each location is adopting an entire school, ensuring all teachers and their students have what they need to learn and succeed," said President, CEO and Chairman of Burlington Stores, Tom Kingsbury. "I am proud of our more than 35,000 associates and millions of customers nationwide for their commitment to this cause that provides classrooms with new material."

AdoptAClassroom.org empowers teachers by providing the classroom supplies and materials needed to help their students learn and succeed. Nearly 20% of teachers spend more than $1,000 annually, totaling more than $1.6 billion each year. Burlington Stores is thrilled to continue their partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org in honor of World Teacher's Day to help 599 classrooms nationwide purchase the supplies they need for their students to have a great school year.

"We are extremely thankful for Burlington Stores' support in raising awareness and funds through their in-store campaign" said Ann Ness, Executive Director of AdoptAClassroom.org. "We are so grateful to be able to assist so many students and teachers through this generous campaign."

All Burlington stores across the country participated, giving customers the opportunity to donate $1 or more to support AdoptAClassroom.org at checkout.
