NETSCOUT Announces Second Wave of Packet Broker Disaggregation

NETSCOUT SYSTEMS, INC., (NASDAQ:NTCT), a leading provider of business assurance, a powerful combination of service assurance, cybersecurity, and business intelligence solutions, today announced the availability of the NETSCOUT nGenius® Packet Flow eXtender (PFX) software for service assurance and cybersecurity monitoring. Built on the NETSCOUT ISNG® platform, the PFX software complements the nGenius Packet Flow Systems product portfolio and delivers real-time, smart data technology that powers the company's service and security assurance solutions. The disaggregation of software-driven packet broker functionality from the underlying hardware enables highly scalable, cost-effective pervasive network visibility.

"Another advantage of packet broker disaggregation is the ability to perform advanced packet processing functions on the same powerful Intel (News - Alert) x86 servers that IT organizations and cloud providers are using in their hyper-scale data centers," said Stephen Collins, principal analyst, ACG Research. "Software-driven packet brokers leveraging merchant silicon's economies of scale are more cost effective than purpose-built platforms for scaling up to gain pervasive network-wide visibility. They are also simpler to procure and easier to deploy."

The ISNG platform uses NETSCOUT's patented, Adaptive Service Intelligence™ (ASI) technology to intelligently and efficiently analyze packet and flow data for a contextual view of service, network and application performance. Extending the ASI smart data technology to pacet conditioning, PFX brings scalable and cost-effective infrastructure visibility to both enterprise and service provider organizations. This software-driven approach provides flexibility and choice, eliminating costly upgrades and individual feature licenses that also contribute to higher TCOs.

"PFX upends the traditional models of how advanced packet broker capabilities have been priced and licensed," said Sanjay Munshi, vice president, product management, Packet Flow Systems, NETSCOUT. "For existing Service Assurance customers, the PFX software is included as an extension to the ASI functionality. New customers can realize up to a 50 percent savings compared to the offerings from other network packet broker vendors."

PFX works in concert with NETSCOUT nGenius Packet Flow Switches as well as with third-party network packet brokers to form the desired configuration. The advanced packet-conditioning capabilities include NetFlow generation, de-duplication, IP tunnel termination and header stripping. These features are available immediately via an all-inclusive license.
