Society of Financial Service Professionals Marks Its 90th Year, Looks Ahead to the Future

The Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP) is celebrating its 90th anniversary as the premier organization in the profession. From its beginnings in 1928 as an alumni association for Chartered Life Underwriters, FSP has evolved into an inclusive community whose membership represents the entire spectrum of financial services. CPAs, attorneys, insurance professionals, and financial planners of all specialties comprise its distinctive membership.

"We are proud of our successful history," says FSP's president, James S. Aussem, JD, AEP, "because it demonstrates the long-term value FSP brings to the profession. But we are even more excited as we look to the future." FSP's astute leadership saw the industry changes coming and made the decision to open membership to multiple disciplines back in 1999. "FP is a unique organization that truly reflects the way financial services are best provided today. Clients now expect and deserve a higher level of service and knowledge than any one advisor can offer. Our members build teams of advisors that collaborate and deliver expertise from multiple financial services perspective." In this collaborative environment, both advisors and clients thrive.

That sentiment is echoed by FSP's CEO, Joseph E. Frack, CPA, CGMA, who is committed to maintaining FSP's leadership status in the financial services arena. "FSP has succeeded in balancing a strong history and culture with the vision and flexibility required to meet the changing needs of its members for 90 years," says Frack. "That solid foundation fuels us, and positions FSP to shape the future of our profession."

FSP sees that future as being one in which collaboration across the spectrum of financial services will result in success for both clients and advisors.

FSP's 90th year will be marked by a number of high-quality educational programs led by industry experts, including their premier event, the Arizona Institute, in January 2018.

FSP is a multidisciplinary community of credentialed financial professionals, a unique collaboration of investment advisors, attorneys, CPAs, insurance professionals, and experts across a variety of sectors. FSP's Chapters provide opportunities for learning and relationship building locally, while the national organization offers additional resources on a larger scale.
