Peak 10 + ViaWest Launches 100 Gigabit Network Connectivity Across US

CHARLOTTE, N.C. and DENVER, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Peak 10 + ViaWest, a leading hybrid IT infrastructure provider offering colocation, interconnection, cloud, managed solutions and professional services, today announced a new core network backbone featuring 100 Gigabit (Gb) connectivity across nine of its data center and cloud node locations spanning the United States. Peak 10 + ViaWest is one of the only data center providers in the world to offer a 100Gbps backbone that enables its 4,200 customers across its portfolio of 40 data centers with diverse and significant network federation capabilities.

This 100Gb backbone increases the company's network capacity by five times and provides customers with network options and interconnection capabilities that extend to hundreds of global carrier offerings. Customers can select the network capacity that best fits their needs today, knowing that the network is readily scalable to 400Gb based on their business needs and growth. This flexibility and the understanding that one size does not fit all is core to the customer-centric approach at Peak 10 + ViaWest.

The 100Gb connectivity now connects nine locations, including data centers and cloud nodes in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, and Portland, Ore., and points of presence (POPs) in key carriers hotels in Chicago, New York and Ashburn, Va. In a growing number of its markets, Peak 10 + ViaWest also has 40Gb connectivity among intercity data centers that is aggregated and routed via the netwrk backbone. Later this fall, the 100Gb network backbone will be extended to data centers in Atlanta, Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C., and Louisville, Ky.

"As we continue to come together as one entity, our combined resources and network offerings will help our customers grow their businesses and manage increasingly complex network requirements," said Chris Downie, CEO of Peak 10 + ViaWest. "Our 100 Gigabit network is truly differentiated, highly redundant and designed for 100% uptime. Customers can use it to connect to more than 80 direct carrier or peering infrastructures within our data centers, as well as gain access to hundreds of carriers and hyperscale cloud providers like AWS, Azure and Google, among others."

Peak 10 + ViaWest's private and secure network backbone is connected into key carrier hotels and peering exchanges in five major markets, with extensions to London and Amsterdam, Netherlands, broadening customer access for national and global network requirements. It is supported by a dedicated backbone engineering team, advanced monitoring and alerting tools, and 24/7/365 support staff.

This latest network enhancement further validates Peak 10 + ViaWest's continuous commitment to providing customers with the most comprehensive set of connectivity services in the industry. In June 2017, the company announced access to the New Cross Pacific (NCP) subsea cable, the fastest low-latency fiber optic cable between the United States and Asia, which directly terminates in its Hillsboro, Ore. data center. The NCP cable enables a direct route for companies to access to the high-growth region spanning China, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.
