Compass Health Raises $158,000 for Children's Camp Programs at Annual 'Building Communities of Hope' Gala

Compass (News - Alert) Health is proud to announce that its 'Building Communities of Hope' Gala, held on September 15 at the Tulalip Resort and Casino, raised more than $158,000 to support its specialized camp programs for children who face family and personal behavioral health challenges.

The charity event, presented by Coast Real Estate Services, Wigren Forensic and Campbell Auto Group, brought together 330 community members who helped to more than double donations received at similar Compass Health fundraising luncheons in the past. The proceeds raised will directly benefit Compass Health's two children's camp programs - Camp Mariposa and Camp Outside the Box (News - Alert).

The transformational programs, led by mental health professionals and counselors from Compass Health, support children who face significant personal behavioral health challenges and family chemical dependency issues. One camp offers access to therapeutic and recreational activities, positive social interactions and job training skills, while the other focuses on providing tools and support for family substance abuse and addiction recovery.

"We are humbled by the generosity of the community and our sponsors," said Tom Kozaczysnki, chief development and communications officer for Compass Health. "We are proud to say that the donations raised at the gala will fund our specialized camp programs for the next year, and ensure that we can continue to provide the fun camp experiences that all children deserve to have."

Both hildren's camps are administered through Compass Health's Wraparound with Intensive Services (WISe) program. The WISe program provides comprehensive behavioral health services and support to children with complex behavioral health needs, as well as their families.

Camp Mariposa - held in partnership with the Moyer Foundation - is a free addiction prevention and mentoring program serving youth who are impacted by substance abuse in their families. Camp Mariposa organizers hold multiple weekend camps per year, offering traditional camp activities combined with educational exercises led by trained mentors. The camp is available to children statewide and not just those within the Compass Health system. It also offers additional mentoring services and support for youth, teens and their families year-round.

Camp Outside the Box is a therapeutic summer program available to 120 youth from the WISe Program. The activities assist campers in relationship-building, learning communications skills and building pro-social behaviors and self-esteem.

"We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate Compass Health's 115-year-anniversary," said Tom Sebastian, president and chief executive officer for Compass Health. "We are honored to have such amazing community support for the work we do, and we look forward to continuing to advance the way we deliver care that treats the whole person and improves the overall health of our communities."
