Gate Petroleum Signs with BridgeHealth for Value-Based Surgery Benefits

Gate Petroleum Company, the 17th-largest privately held firm in Florida, has contracted with BridgeHealth for value-based surgery benefits. BridgeHealth is a leader in making value-based healthcare accessible through high-quality, lower-cost, bundled surgical case rate benefit plans.

BridgeHealth is providing Gate's 1,600 eligible employees and their families access to top-performing surgical centers of excellence at lower, predictable costs. BridgeHealth's employer clients save 20-40 percent on costly major surgeries such as spinal fusions, hip replacements, angioplasties and coronary bypasses.

BridgeHealth negotiates with the top quartile of the nation's surgical teams for some 500 bundled case rates, combining the various charges of each surgery into a single discounted price. BridgeHealth's bundled case rate plans and support services provide self-funded employers, government and labor organizations, and more than 500,000 workers an answer to today's twin challenges in healthcare: runaway costs and widely varying quality.

"Gate cares deeply about its employees, and we realize surgery can bring tremendous stress and financial hardship," said Thomas Glavin, Gate's vice president and director of risk management and employee benefits. "With BridgeHealth's solution, Gate will relieve our employees of out-of-pocket costs for scheduled surgeries, ensure the highest-quality care forthem and reduce the company's healthcare spend."

"We are honored to serve Gate," said Mark Stadler, BridgeHealth's chief executive officer. "Gate joins other employers across many industries in partnering with BridgeHealth to offer value-based surgical care for employees and their families. In addition to BridgeHealth's incentives that waive the co-insurance and deductibles for participating members, Gate is offering an attractive incentive to use the voluntary program, crediting workers $500 to $1,000 for each surgery coordinated by BridgeHealth. These measures will help ensure the plan's success at Gate."

Gate also will cover most travel expenses for patients and companions, including airfare, car mileage and accommodations. Gate and BridgeHealth will collaborate to promote the voluntary surgery benefits through print and digital communications. BridgeHealth's care coordinators will provide information and decision support to Gate employees, largely relieving them of administrative tasks.

About Gate

A privately-held, diversified corporation headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., Gate's core business is convenience stores, with more than 225 owner-operated or supplied state of the art locations throughout the Southeast.

Named the 17th-largest privately held company in Florida, this dynamic organization first began as a single service station in Jacksonville more than 50 years ago. As a result of the 1970s oil crisis, founder Herbert H. Peyton and Gate executives realized the need to diversify and began to acquire unrelated business.

Today overseen by Peyton's eldest son, John Peyton, who serves as the company president, Gate also operates eight precast concrete plants, a host of real estate ventures, a hospitality division, fuel services and fleet services.

Gate continues to grow and better serve the community because of the willingness of its more than 3,000 employees and the valued support of its customers.
