AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Global cybersecurity leader Forcepoint today announced it has partnered with security industry leaders to deliver Department of Defense (DoD) suppliers a comprehensive solution that simplifies the path to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-171 compliance.

Offering rapid five-day implementation, Forcepoint and GigaTrust bring together best-of-breed security products tailored for the NIST SP 800-171 technology controls implemented in partnership with security assessment and managed services leaders ICM and Raytheon Cyber Services.

Available immediately through Forcepoint, this all-encompassing solution helps suppliers address their specific needs relative to the 109 DoD compliance requirements by Dec. 31, 2017. This deadline is mandated within the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) NIST SP 800-171 supply chain program that addresses managing and protecting defense and controlled unclassified information (CUI) through standardization of security technology and procedures.

"Securing the global supply chain is essential to our national security and economic prosperity," said Tim Solms, senior vice president and general manager of Forcepoint's Global Governments business. "Racing against the year-end deadline, the majority of organizations lack the resources to effectively address NIST SP 800-171 on their own. Together with our partners, we're also solving a significant security and compliance problem to help government contractors stay in business."

Forcepoint's cybersecurity solution is making it easy for companies of any size to comply as well as protect all sensitive data and systems that support government missions and warfighters in theater. According to estimates by the SANS Institute, up to 80 percent of all cyber breaches may have originated in the supply chaini; and, a 2016 report from the National Cybersecurity Alliance found that 59 percent of small and medium businesses interviewed don't have a contingency plan in place for reporting and responding to breachesii.

"With the December 2017 deadline fast approaching, it can be overwhelming for a business to implement all these security masures on their own — which could require a large team of IT professionals and a sizable budget," said Brad Gandee, vice president of worldwide sales at GigaTrust. "Working with partners Forcepoint, Raytheon Cyber Services and ICM, GigaTrust is delivering a best-of-breed NIST SP 800-171 solution to small and medium businesses implemented in under five days that is unique to the industry and speeds the path to compliance."

The Forcepoint NIST SP 800-171 solution addresses many security standards across 14 business critical technology and policy control families, including; Access Control, Audit and Accountability, Identification and Authentication, Incident Response, Media Protection, Maintenance, Risk Assessment and System and Communication Protection, to name a few.

Forcepoint security products within the solution include the company's category-leading Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions. Forcepoint NGFWs connect and protect people and CUI data across offices, branches and the cloud and feature integrated global threat intelligence and proxy technology to secure the people and the mission-critical applications that protect nation-states. Forcepoint Endpoint DLP protects customers' most sensitive CUI data and advanced threats by detecting illegitimate use of credentials and alerting organizations of potential data loss or leakage – a necessary feature to meet the DoD's vendor requirements to report breaches within 72 hours.

"Meeting today's security challenges, especially within the critical government supply chain, requires a multi-layered approach to protect our national interests at home and abroad," said Mark Mahovlich, vice president of operations at ICM. "ICM has partnered with today's cybersecurity leaders - Forcepoint, GigaTrust and Raytheon Cyber Services - to deliver a real world best-of-breed NIST SP 800-171 solution with a common sense approach that makes compliance for small and medium sized businesses easy, affordable and attainable before the year-end deadline."
