"Texas sustainable and organic family farms are the backbone of our local food system.  They supply healthy food for families; support hundreds of restaurants; provide healthy food to schools and grocery [and food coop] shelves. There are millions of people in the storm zone! Help us help Texas farmers and ranchers once again feed their communities good, clean, Texas-grown food," says Sue Beckwith, Executive Director of Texas Center for Local Food.

This devastating storm has set thousands of community and organic farmers back months and maybe years with livestock, barns, crops, equipment, and land destroyed by the catastrophic winds and rainfall that flooded the region. The funds raised on this Barnraiser project will be distributed to help organic farmers and ranchers recover from this terrible disaster. These funds will help farmers bridge the financial gap (at least in a small way) and help alleviate their loss of income.

"We are glad to support the Texas Cente for Local Food and their partner organizations by enlisting the help of our generous Barnraiser community to raise funds for Texas farmers who, like everyone else, have been so deeply affected by Hurricane Harvey. We all must continue to find ways to support the people who feed us, and help this vital group of families and businesses get back on solid ground," says Eileen Gordon, CEO/Founder of Barnraiser.

We invite our Barnraiser community, communities across the United States and around the world to please consider donating to help farmers rebuild their farms, barns and lives.

The campaign will be live from Saturday, Sept. 2 through Oct. 1 2017 and all donations are tax deductible. https://www.barnraiser.us/projects/texas-farmer-rancher-disaster-relief
