VShell 4.3 Server from VanDyke Software Adds Support for LDAP User Authentication and Enhances Public-Key ManagementALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Aug. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- VanDyke Software®, a developer of multi-platform secure terminal emulation and file transfer software, today announced the official release of the VShell® 4.3 server. VShell 4.3 for Windows gives system administrators the ability to authenticate users using credentials provided by an external LDAP server and introduces new time-saving and security enhancements. "With the new LDAP functionality, VShell administrators now have the option to leverage an existing user infrastructure," said Chris McElveny, VanDyke Software's product director for VShell. "Authenticating users via LDAP will allow users to connect with minimal changes on the VShell machine." To help save administrators' time, VShell for Windows adds a public-key management interface for adding, viewing, and removing public keys that users are allowed to use for authentication. Security and encryption enhancements include support for the ChaCha20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption cipher. VShell 4.3 for UNIX adds fine-grained control over file and folder access permissions on virtual directories, as well as the ability to specify which virtual directory will be used as the user's default home directory. The VShell Secure Shell server replaces Telnet and FTP for secure file transfer, secure network administration, and end-user access on Windows and UNIX platforms. Precision control over privileges, the ability to fine tune the Secure Shell environment, and a wide selection of strong authentication methods provide a flexible solution that grows with evolving business and security environments.
