Flexjet Partners with ArcTouch to Develop Feature-Rich App and Custom API

Flexjet LLC, offering travelers access to the world's youngest and most luxurious fleet of private jets, today announced the successful launch of its new iPhone (News - Alert)® app, now available in the App Store. From air-to-air video of aircraft on the welcome page to the post-trip satisfaction surveys, the Flexjet app is the most sophisticated and feature-rich mobile app in the fractional private jet industry.

In just the three weeks since its launch, the Flexjet app has been adopted by 20 percent of all Flexjet Owners. Flexjet Owners using the new app now can manage their entire private jet travel experience with just a few taps.

The app can be used by current and prospective private jet Owners. Existing Owners can book trips, order catering, request ground transportation and get real-time travel notifications for upcoming trips. Along with a detailed itinerary, the app will allow Owners to see photos of their pilots, run flight-time estimates and perform destination research. In addition, the Flexjet app provides easy access to pre-flight information, directions to airport fixed-based operators (FBOs) and destination weather.

Prospective buyers can peruse the fleet, see aircraft photo galleries, aircraft statistics, cabin configurations and use the flight time estimator for dynamic aircraft comparisons.

In developing the mobile app, Flexjet's marketing and information technology teams partnered with ArcTouch of San Francisco, the same developer that created the award-winning Skyjet app. Skyjet is a leading provider of on-demand private jet charters and, like Flexjet, a member of the Directional Aviation family of companies. The Skyet app helped advance the private jet travel market by introducing such features as Apple (News - Alert) Pay and instant price estimates based on current market pricing. ArcTouch developers called the Flexjet app one of the most feature-rich launch versions of an app that they have developed.

"It was essential that the Flexjet app design mirrored Flexjet's premium brand aesthetic," said Flexjet Vice President of Global Marketing Christopher Bero. "At every step in the process, Flexjet's award-winning designers were involved to maintain the brand integrity. We recognize that our clients live in an increasingly mobile world. Our focus was to enhance the Flexjet Owner experience and deliver our clients an app that provides more control over, and greater value in, the coordination of their travel needs."

Flexjet's IT team, led by Chief Technology Officer Greg Johnson, created a custom API with hundreds of custom services for the app and also built a state-of-the-art back-end system to transmit information to and from the app. The extensive back-end system also will benefit Flexjet's sister companies under the Directional Aviation umbrella, including Flexjet Ltd, Skyjet, Sentient Jet and Flight Options.

"This new back-end system will support us in our next chapter of innovation, something that Flexjet is known for," said Johnson, who joined the company earlier this year to lead the IT team that serves Flexjet and its sister companies. "Our Owners can rely on Flexjet to keep raising the bar on delivering the information they need, when they need it."

Real-time "push" travel notification is one of the standout features that Flexjet's IT team coded. This feature sends aircraft tail numbers and other travel alerts to the user, as the information becomes available, keeping Owners constantly and seamlessly in the know, with important details about their trips.

ArcTouch's work in designing the user experience had to factor in the company's business goals and objectives, and the user journey of Flexjet's unique audience of fractional, lease and jet card Owners. One of the benefits of flying with Flexjet is significant time savings compared with other methods of travel. This app brings that benefit to life by allowing Owners to quickly find the information they request.

Flexjet's mobile app is available on the App Store®.
