Red River Hosts 11th Annual Charity Golf ClassicRed River, a technology transformation company, hosted its 11th Annual Charity Golf Classic at the Quechee Club's two championship golf courses in Vermont on July 13. The yearly tournament is the primary fundraiser for the Red River Charitable Foundation (RRCF), Red River's non-profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. "RRCF's mission is to create a positive impact in the communities we serve, and the Annual Golf Classic is a great example of that effort," said Kim Vacca, Director of the Red River Charitable Foundation. "We had a fun day on the greens, but being able to change the lives of our scholarship recipients is why we're here." RRCF provides opportunities for students in middle school through college interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields with scholarships, internships, mentoring and donations of IT equipment. RRCF also supports U.S. military veterans transitioning to civilian life. RRCF's scholarship recipients and their families were the guests of honor at the 11th Annual Golf Classic. The scholarship recipients underwent a rigorous vetting process and received monetary awards from RRCF for college tuition and books. The RRCF team also gifted the students with new Dell (News - Alert) laptops, printers and monitors. This year's scholarship recipients included six students from New Hampshire and Vermont area high schools. From Lebanon High School two students were recognized. Rachel Barden is headed to Clarkson University to major in Engineering and Management, and Graham Chickering will be attending Amherst College to study Computer Science. Conor Joyce of Hatford High School is headed to the University of Vermont to study Biomedical Engineering. Recipients from Stevens High School are Timothy Berry, who will study Chemical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Stephen Bosonac, who is off to the Rochester Institute of Technology to study Electrical Engineering. From Newport High School, Jacob Merritt will be attending Clarkson University to major in Engineering and Management.
