GoNetspeed Set for Launch in PittsburghGoNetspeed, a fiber-optic broadband service provider, announced today that it will begin offering high-speed connectivity to select communities in Pittsburgh, targeting both business and residential customers. The company will begin offering residential service in Ambridge by October, with plans for service to Beaver Falls shortly after. GoNetspeed's residential plans start at $50 for 100 Megabit of bandwidth, and also includes 500 Megabit and 1 Gigabit options as well. According to a recent report from management consulting firm Deloitte (News - Alert), fiber-optic Internet reaches less than one-third of U.S. homes, "with only 39% of U.S. consumers having access to more than one provider who offers a 25 Mbps speed tier or higher." With the adoption of streaming services, bandwidth-intensive gaming, and shear number of Internet of Things (IoT), high-speed Internet connectivity to the home has become critical. GoNetspeed aims to bridge the digital divide by bringing fiber-optic connections directly to the customers it will serve by utilizing an existing network in Pittsburgh. "The initial response to our service offering in Ambridge and Beaver Falls has been tremendous," added Chiaino. "We're now actively engaging in build plans, adding to our staff, and looking forward to working with local contractors and community leaders in an effort to provide high-speed connectivity with exceptional customer service." GoNetspeed will also serve the business community with Internet and Ethernet services throughout Pittsburgh. It has hired a local sales person, and will shortly add other engineering and support personnel locally, while having its headquarters in Rochester, NY. Previously, Chiaino was the founder of Fibertech Networks, which built nearly 14,000 miles of metro fiber networks across the Northeast. GoNetspeed's management team has decades of experience operating fiber networks. Larry Coleman is president of GoNetspeed, and was most recently the president and founder of Sunesys (News - Alert). In addition, Tom Perrone is the chief operating officer, and was previously vice president of engineering and planning for Fibertech Networks.
