CodeFights Launches Database World and 11 New Languages In One Of The Biggest Updates Yet

SAN FRANCISCO, July 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CodeFights announced the launch of Database World today, a new way for software engineers to practice their database administration skills while having fun and learning new tricks from other engineers in the community. In addition, Codefights announced that it has added 11 new coding languages to its library, bringing the total number of supported programming languages close to 30. This makes CodeFights the most advanced tool of its kind in the market. It is one of the most significant platform upgrades since CodeFights was launched in September of 2014.

"One of our goals with CodeFights was to make practicing programming skills as fun and effective as possible and we always try to challenge our users and push them out of their comfort zone," said Tigran Sloyan, Founder and CEO of CodeFights. "Both of these announcements today reflect our ongoing commitment to giving developers all the tools they need to practice and expand their craft."

Database World
Database World is an addition to CodeFights Arcade—the ultimate playground for software engineers to practice their skills. Like classic arcade games, developers in the CodeFights Arcade unlock increasingly difficult challenges as they gain mastery over different skills. They are given a map with locations that revolve around a specific topic of core programming and computer scence and unlock the map as they go by completing tasks at each location.

Before Database World, Arcade consisted of 4 different worlds: The Introduction, where users familiarize themselves with simple programming tasks and learn the interface; The Core, where they can practice most important concepts of software engineering; Python, which focuses on the particulars of that language; and Graphs, where programmers can practice graph theory.

Database World is the 5th world on the arcade map. It currently supports MySQL, and CodeFights plans to add support for other relational databases, such as Oracle, soon. As the need for data scientists and developers with database skill grows, Database World provides a unique way to learn that is educational and entertaining, enabling users to acquire the skills they need to be a highly competitive and land their dream jobs.

11 New Languages
CodeFights first launched with support for three programming languages and has steadily added more over time. Today, with the launch of 11 new languages, CodeFights has dramatically increased the scope of its platform. Developers of all backgrounds, experience, and skillsets can find opportunities to learn and improve. The new languages are: Ocaml, Clojure, Common Lisp, D, Erlang, Lua, Elixir, Rust, CofeeScript, Kotlin and ObjectiveC. With all these language options, CodeFights expands its scope to accommodate a wider audience, as well as further challenge existing users.
