Plagiarism Detection Service VeriCite Eclipses 100 Institutional Clients, Hires Ed Tech Veteran Valerie Schreiner as CEO

INDIANAPOLIS, July 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloud-based plagiarism detection service VeriCite today announced that it has added more than 100 educational institutional clients since the company's inception a year ago. As the company continues to build momentum in the marketplace, it has added education technology veteran Valerie Schreiner as CEO. Co-founders Scott Siddall and Sam Ottenhoff will remain with the company as CFO and CTO, respectively.

The 100-client milestone is a testament to the effectiveness and value of VeriCite's plagiarism detection service. According to Pat Burns, vice president of information technology at Colorado State University and an early adopter of VeriCite, "We conducted a side-by-side evaluation of VeriCite and its competitors and found VeriCite to provide very high-quality originality reports at a substantial savings over alternatives. It integrates well with our Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), extending the value of the LMS without duplicating functionality."

Other higher education institutions using the service include the University of Oregon, University o Washington, University of Denver, institutions within the University of North Carolina system, and the California Community College System. In addition, a number of K-12 school districts, including Seminole County (FL) Public Schools, have adopted the service.

New CEO Valerie Schreiner previously held the position of chief product officer at Schoolzilla and has held senior-level positions at Elluminate and Blackboard.

"We are delighted to add Valerie to help us build on our early success" said Siddall. "Valerie is an experienced leader who has demonstrated the ability to scale organizations and has a deep commitment to customer support and organizational success, which will help us maintain our current growth rate."

"VeriCite's founders have built an impressive team and an impressive service," said Schreiner. "The rapid acceptance by the market speaks to the quality of the service, value price point, the company's ease in doing business, and its responsiveness to client feedback. I'm looking forward to helping VeriCite continue to provide excellent service in the midst of exponential growth. We have an exciting roadmap of capabilities planned that will allow us to sustain our market advantage."

Schreiner will meet with customers and potential customers at the Canvas LMS InstructureCon conference in Keystone, Colorado later this month.
