For more than 50 years, IDC has collected and analyzed IT industry data to provide insight and gidance. Similarly, IDC Government Insights is systematically collecting global government IT revenue information and tracking the growth of the largest industry IT vendors in an effort to help both end users and IT suppliers alike to make the most strategic decisions for their institutions. The data is analyzed by IDC Government Insights analysts who use their understanding of global trends and industry activities to create meaningful rankings. IDC analysts also put the information in the context of industry trends for the benefit of both the institutions that buy technology, as well as the companies that provide IT solutions to the industry.

IDC Government Insights Federal IT Rankings: Top 50 & Enterprise 25

Two categories of companies are ranked:

  • Federal IT Rankings: Top 50 - vendors that derive more than one-third of their revenue from government institutions and from their involvement with providing the government with hardware, software, and IT services, including associated business process analysis and consulting.
  • Federal IT Rankings: Enterprise 25 - enterprise companies serving multiple industries that derive less than one-third of their revenues from government institutions.

If you are interested in participating, please contact IDC Government Insights Research Director Shawn P. McCarthy. To learn more about this program, please visit the IDC Government Insights Federal IT Rankings Web page.

NOTE: Revenue from sales of telecommunications, electronic exchanges, and data services are EXCLUDED. Survey respondents that derive revenue from excluded technology categories (e.g. market data providers) will be considered for these rankings only if they have revenue tied to applicable revenue categories. For such survey respondents, the revenue attributed to excluded technology categories will be used to qualify the data providers to meet the one-third participation hurdle for the Federal IT Rankings, but only the qualifying portion of hardware, software, and IT services revenue will be included in the final ranking revenue evaluation.
