STAR Systems International Issues Statement on ITC Judge Initial Determination Rejecting Neology's IP Claims Against 6C

HONG KONG, June 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- STAR Systems International Limited (SSI), a Hong Kong-based Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) hardware, tag and professional services provider, today issued the following statement in relation to the complaint filed by Neology to the United States International Trade Commission ("ITC"):

SSI is pleased to report that on June 22, 2017 the Unites States of America ITC Judge presiding over this complaint has made an initial determination in favor of SSI.  Furthermore, the Judge has also ruled that the patents brought to trial by Neology are, in fact, invalid.

"This is a huge win for the 6C industry as a whole," said SSI CTO Stephen Lockhart.  "Invalidating these patents is a strong signal to the market that 6C is truly an open standard protocol."

Said STAR Systems International Managing Director Bob Karr:

"This was a long, difficult and distracting fight for SSI.  However, we truly believe in the openness of the ISO 18000 6C standard and that it is worth standing up for.  We sincerely appreciate the continued support we received during this time from all of our customers, suppliers and partners.  With his favorable decision, all of us at STAR Systems International are looking forward to putting this behind us and continuing to focus our resources and efforts towards being the best possible provider of Readers, Transponders and Professional Services to the worldwide tolling and vehicle identification markets."

This positive decision paves the way for a smooth rollout of 6C products throughout the United States.  While it is possible for Neology to appeal this decision, SSI is confident that the ruling will be upheld.
