George Washington University Online High School to Hold In-Person Graduation Ceremony


The George Washington University Online High School (GWUOHS), a full-time online private school for students worldwide, will celebrate the Class of 2017 with an in-person graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 24, at 1 p.m. in the Marvin Center Grand Ballroom on the George Washington University's Foggy Bottom campus.

Thirty-three students representing 13 states and five countries will graduate from GWUOHS, an online college preparatory academy for students in grades 8-12. Students receive a rigorous, personalized education that meets their own needs and goals combined with our own Journey's Symposium that promotes self-awareness, leadership, service, and personal success, as well as intensive college counseling.

"At GWUOHS, we encourage the extraordinary in our students," said Alison Mistretta, head of school at the George Washington University Online High School. "The Class of 2017 exemplifies the best of the best, and we are proud to know that our graduates are truly prepared for whatever their futures may hold."

Collectively, the GWUOHS Class of 2017 reports it has been offered more than $3 million in college scholarships. The graduates report that they have been accepted to a number of prestigious colleges across the country, including American University, Boston University, Embry Riddle University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Indiana University (News - Alert), Loyola Marymount University, New York University, NewYork Institute of Technology, Ohio State University, Penn State University, Pepperdine University, Rochester Institute of Technology (News - Alert), Saint Joseph's University, Southern Methodist University, Syracuse University, University of California, University of Massachusetts, University of Michigan, University of Arizona, University of Colorado, University of Connecticut, University of Florida, University of Maryland, University of Miami, Notre Dame University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Texas, University of Washington, University of Oregon and Villanova University, among others.



Graduating senior Vendela Dente, who plans to attend Fordham University in the fall, will address her classmates. Russ Roselle, senior vice president for private pay and international at K12 Inc., will deliver the commencement address.
