Excel Medical to Present & Exhibit at AAMI 2017 Annual Conference

JUPITER, Fla., June 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Excel Medical (Excel), the leader in Next-Generation Medical Device IntegrationTM (MDI), today announced it will exhibit and present at the AAMI 2017 Annual Conference and Expo, June 9-12, in Austin, TX. The company will be in Booth #1200 for the duration of the show.

Excel also announced it will preview in live demonstrations at its booth, its soon-to-be-released new clinical decision support solutions with the Visensia® Index, software from OBS Medical for advanced and early detection of patient deterioration in acute care settings.

The Visensia IndexTM is the first FDA-cleared index for multiple physiological parameter assessment. Integrated into Excel's next-generation clinical decision solutions, Visensia analyzes and interprets combined patterns of up to five vital signs collected from patient monitors, ambulatory devices, or manually, and provides early signaling of patient deterioration to clinicians. This helps improve clinical outcomes and patient safety. Other new developments to Excel's next-generation clinical decision support technologies will also be introduced at AAMI 2017.

On Sunday, June 11 at 2:15 pm, John Hoffman, Excel Medical's president, co-founder and principal engineer, will present "Beyond 'Possible': Integrating Waveforms and Analytics to Improve Patient Safety, Clinical Workflows and Outcomes," in a company showcase as part of the conference's Interactive Systems Interoperability Experience in the Expo Hall theater, Booth 1412. In his presentation, Hoffman will:

  • cover the current state of telemetry and central monitoring workflows
  • explore and simulate two workflows: (a) operational – documentation, (b) clinical – managing/communicating STAT events
  • examine opportunities to streamline clinical collaboration and documentation through integration of physiological waveforms, alarm strips and live remote monitoring with the EHR and clinical workflow
  • discuss how to leverage technology and predictive analytics to transition reactive monitoring into proactive monitoring, including early signaling and identification of patients at risk of deterioration

"Hospitals are data rich," said Lance Burton, general manager of Excel Medical. "At Excel, we're trying to harness that data to move monitoring of patients from being reactive to being proactive through predictive medicine. This year's AAMI Conference is the ideal setting for us to demonstrate and share technology and advancements."

AAMI 2017 is the premier annual healthcare technology management event. It will be attended by 3,000 industry professionals, including clinical engineers, biomedical engineers and technicians, hospital IT specialists, clinicians, nurses and hospital administrators.
