VILLA-TECH Extends Software Defined Networking With Continued Collaboration With ONOS and CORD

CHICAGO, June 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- VILLA-TECH, a market leader in real-life implementations of Software Defined Networking (SDN), is honored to bring hands-on experience to Villa-Tech's own customized solutions as it continues to be a seminal contributor to major open-source projects with Open Network Operating System (ONOS) and Central Office Re-architected as a Datacenter (CORD).

ONOS and CORD provide telecom operators and ever-growing number of enterprises with the latest in open-source, modular software by which they can offer SDN benefits to their own businesses and customers they serve. Governed by the Linux Foundation and organized by the Open Networking Laboratory (ON.Lab), ONOS and CORD carry backing by major global operators including AT&T, Orange, and SK Telecom.

Now in their second year, VILLA-TECH contributions include fundamental components of ONOS and CORD, including a building the graphical user interface (GUI), rewriting the entire topology view module in collaboration with the team at ON.Lab, as well as re-engineering the modeling to take place in the backend in Java, reducing the amount of processing the client would have to do to simulate the topology.

VILLA-TECH staff not only participate in the Technical Steering Team (TST) but retain voting privilege for the TST chair. Because of their essential value to the entire global ONOS community, VILLA-TECH staff were invited to and participated in ONOS Build Paris in 2016 and will join ONOS Build 2017.

With this experience under their belt, VILLA-TECH  is moving quickly to strengthen the community parts of ONOS and CORD, while facilitating VILLA-TECH's deployment of them for their customers' unique situations.
