ClearHealth Quality Institute Seeks Board of Directors and Standards Committee Volunteers

ANNAPOLIS, Md., May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ClearHealth Quality Institute™ (CHQI) – a new accreditation organization that promotes standards that incorporate the next generation of quality and outcome measures – seeks candidates to serve on the Board of Directors and its new Telemedicine Standards Committee.

"CHQI is poised to help transform healthcare through the next generation of accreditation standards and value-based purchasing requirements, thereby promoting transparency and accountability," said Garry Carneal, JD, MA, CHQI Founder. "CHQI will bring to market new quality and outcome measures in targeted areas where existing accreditation programs or regulations are not keeping up with current healthcare trends. The CHQI board members – to be drawn across stakeholders – will have an opportunity to collaborate and build key quality-based standards and outcome measures to promote best practices."  During Carneal's career, he has helped bring to market over 20 healthcare accreditation programs with four different accreditation agencies, including CHQI.

CHQI also is seeking volunteers to participate in CHQI's Telemedicine Standards Committee. In May, the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and CHQI launched a joint venture to develop the next generation of telemedicine standards. Jonathon Linkous, CEO of the American Telemedicine Association said, "The joint venture with CHQI – and the expansion of the online patient consultation program – ensures increased accountability, integrity and quality of programs and services being offered by telemedicne providers." For more information, see the joint press release.

"It is important to ensure that patient-provider and provider-provider telemedicine consultations maintain the same integrity as in-person consultations," said Joel V. Brill, MD FACP, chief medical officer, Predictive Health LLC. This week, CHQI takes the first steps towards achieving this aim by seeking volunteers to serve on the Telemedicine Standards Committee. The subject-matter-expert panel comprised of diverse stakeholders will be charged with establishing transparent measures to ensure all virtual health consultations achieve the highest quality for the end-user. Brill adds, "Developing standards for the delivery of telemedicine will have a significant impact in improving the health of patients who receive care through tele-health modalities."

CHQI announced its formation earlier this year.  In addition to telemedicine, the accreditation agency has several accreditation initiatives underway related to managed care and medical management programs.  Stay tuned for additional details.
