Hacker-Powered Security Company Synack Honored as CNBC Disruptor for Third Consecutive Year

Synack, Inc. ("Synack"), the first hacker-powered intelligence platform, today announced it has been selected as the recipient of two prestigious accolades: Gartner Cool Vendor as the only security company in the Business and IT Services category, and CNBC Disruptor 50 for the third consecutive year. As cybercrime damage costs are predicted to hit $6 trillion annually by 2021, Synack is recognized for its security platform which helps businesses scale offense to understand exactly how exposed or resistant they are to a cyber attack.

"We live in a world where all it takes is one vulnerability to shut a company down, and cyber security is one industry where technology on its own is no match for human ingenuity. If we have learned anything from the WannaCry attack, it is that the old models of finding and prioritizing vulnerabilities are broken. It's clear businesses and agencies need a more effective way to secure their digital infrastructure and applications," said Jay Kaplan, co-founder and CEO of Synack. "Just three years after we created this new category of hacker-powered security, we're honored to be recognized by both CNBC and Gartner (News - Alert) for combining man with machine for a highly effective offense."

Recognition of Synack in Gartner's Business and IT Services Cool Vendor category reaffirms the fact that security is no longer just an IT issue, it has truly become a business issue. With security vulnerabilities leading to business disruption, stolen data, nation-state interference, and now a surge in ransomware, enterprises and government agencies are considering security risk at all stages of their operations. Security solutions need to be pragmatic and pervasive in order to match the agility and diversity of the technology that we use every day.

Working with F500/G2000 companies and agencies, Synack consistently finds vulnerabilities that were ignored by traditional security solutions. These vulnerabilities are often the most damaging kind that could result in data exfiltration and account takeovers, exactly the class of vulnerabilities adversaries hunt for in deploying ransomware attacks. In 2016, 35 percent of these previously undetected vulnerabilities found by the Synack Red Team were considered to be high severity (CVSS greater than 7.0), with an average of unknown 12 high severity vulnerabilities per engagement.*
