Crikey! Voxbone Slashes Latency Times within Australia and New Zealand Thanks to New Point of Presence


Voxbone (News - Alert) is offering better coverage than ever with the launch of a new PoP (point of presence) in Australia. The additional node located in Sydney will soon support latency-free calls originating from Australia and New Zealand, as connections will be routed locally within Voxbone's recently added PoP.

Voxbone calls made within Australia and New Zealand will have a latency as low as 20ms, which is equal to the standard delay times expected from a traditional PSTN (public switched telephone network) line. This means that the expected "mouth-to-ear" audio delay in the region will be no different than your standard fixed-line connections, which is to say, undetectable to the human ear.

Voxbone's new PoP is geographically redundant and will be fully operational as a preview to select customers on May 15, 2017. It will be generally available by the end of June 2017. This upgrade to Voxbone's presence opens the door to its enterprise cloud communications customers, which include 8x8 (News - Alert), Fuze, Skype, Dialpad, Zoom and BlueJeans, to offer voice services with the best possible quality of service in the "Land Down Under."

Voxbone offers toll-free numbers throughout the region, as well as landline numbers in 140 key cities within Australia and 20 cities in New Zealand. To complement this offering, Voxbone services also include virtual mobile numbers in Australia.
