Tech Data Offers Cisco Security Incident Response Service

Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq: TECD) today announced that its Technology Solutions business, formerly a division of Avnet and now part of Tech Data (News - Alert), is offering the Cisco® Security Incident Response Service for its partners in the U.S. and Canada. This managed service significantly strengthens customers' networks and information security defenses. Using the latest intelligence and best practices, it engages all layers of defense and is designed to provide a comprehensive range of capabilities to help organizations prepare, manage, respond to, and recover from security incidents quickly and effectively.

"Enterprise IT systems are consistently under attack virtually everywhere, by viruses, malware, denial of service, etc., and studies show that security breaches cost hundreds of billions of dollars per year," said Phillip Privett, Technology Solutions' vice president, Cisco (News - Alert) Solutions business. "Combine that with a worldwide shortage of security professionals, and the channel finds itself with a genuine need for a turnkey security response program that customers can deploy right now."

The Cisco Security Incident Response Service is a solution within Cisco Security Advisory Services that provides the expertise to assess and design a security approach to help foster business growth, help reduce cost and mitigate risk. Cisco's Incident Response Team synthesizes best practices and deploys information security experts with a unique blend of law enforcement, enterprise security and tecnology security backgrounds. This team works directly with Cisco's Talos, the security intelligence and research group, to identify known and unknown threats, quantify and prioritize risk, and reduce risk in the future.

"As the threat landscape continues to grow, cybersecurity services offered by the channel are increasingly required by many end customers," said Andrew Sage, vice president, Americas Distribution at Cisco. "The Cisco Security Incident Response Service is the latest offering in our go-to-market approach with Tech Data's Technology Solutions (News - Alert) team, and our mutual channel partners will benefit from the value found in their market know-how and security expertise."

Adding Cisco's Security Incident Response Service offering to the combined Tech Data-Technology Solutions portfolio builds upon its solutions specialist approach to accelerate the channel's abilities to capitalize on the rapidly growing, next-generation technologies that are defining the future of computing and the data center. Partners will be able to engage Tech Data's dedicated solutions specialists to develop complete security solutions. Tech Data also provides the channel with in-depth expertise in complementary technology market segments, including cloud, cognitive computing, data analytics, the data center, the internet of things (IoT), mobility, and training and education.
