Second Annual Bio+Tech17 Conference Will Spur Partnership Opportunities for Mid-Atlantic Life Sciences and Technology Organizations


This week, the Maryland Tech Council (MTC) will hold its second annual Bio+Tech17 Conference on April 27 and 28 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. Bringing together leading companies and organizations from across the Mid-Atlantic region to discuss pressing industry topics, more than 500 life sciences, HealthIT and technology professionals are expected to attend.

This year's theme will be Innovation at the Speed of Life, focusing on the increasing intersection of biological and technological innovations, and the ability of participating organizations to blend these two areas into viable research and commercial equity.

The first of Bio+Tech17's keynote speakers will be Keller Rinaudo, founder and CEO of Zipline, a healthcare logistics company that provides vaccines, medicine and blood supply through a drone-based delivery system. Mr. Rinaudo will provide the morning keynote address on April 27, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. ET. On the morning of April 28, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. ET, Michelle Bennett, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Research Strategy at the National Cancer Institute, will discuss the Power of the Cancer Moonshot during the second keynote address.

In addition to the kynote speakers, there will be 14 other speaker and panel sessions. Notable amongst these sessions will be a discussion with leading life sciences and technology CEOs, moderated by Ray Briscuso, President and CEO of the Life Sciences Conference Group. The panel includes:



  • James Greenwood, President & CEO, Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO)
  • Gary Shapiro (News - Alert), President & CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)
  • Stephen Ubl, President & CEO, PhRMA
  • Scott Whitaker, President and CEO, AdvaMed
