Modernizing Medicine's Medical Director of Orthopedics, Dr. Jason Weisstein, to Present Best Approaches for Orthopedic Practices to Address MIPS at Leading Industry Event

Dr. Jason Weisstein, Medical Director of Orthopedics at specialty-specific health information technology leader Modernizing Medicine, Inc., will present strategies for orthopedic practices to address the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) at the American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) Annual Meeting this weekend. In addition to sharing best practices, leaders from Modernizing Medicine will also showcase the latest innovations in its comprehensive suite of solutions, including a MIPS solution that documents, analyzes and benchmarks healthcare providers' performance in near real time.

In "Strategies to Outperform Your Peers in the New Era of Value-Based Healthcare and MIPS," Dr. Weisstein will explore best practices and technologies physicians and administrators can implement to better understand how their practices are performing in terms of both quality and cost. The session will focus on comparative analysis amongst peers and against national benchmarks, and it should illuminate a path to navigate an increasingly complex climate of compliance and reporting. Dr. Weisstein will also highlight the value of structured data collection at the point of care to maintain streamlined workflows and reduce administrative tasks through automation. Watch this video to learn more about the benefits of attending his session.

"With the shift to MIPS and value-based care, orthopedic surgeons and their teams can thrive by adapting and utilizing technology that fits within their workflows to understand how they perform in real time, both within heir own practices and compared with their peers nationwide," said. Dr. Weisstein. "Modernizing Medicine's suite of orthopedic-specific technologies and services provides the necessary tools to maintain a focus on quality and outcomes, rather than time-consuming documentation."

Earlier this year, Modernizing Medicine announced that EMA (News - Alert)™, the EHR system in the modmed Orthopedics™ suite, is among the first to include built-in MIPS intelligence. The platform builds providers' MIPS composite scores during the exam in a MIPS scorecard and benchmarks their performance against peers in real time. The automated solution is currently available and was designed to help clients exceed the minimum threshold or achieve exceptional performance for an upward adjustment in 2017 with MIPS, in accordance with the new Quality Payment Program by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that started in January 2017. This functionality is a natural follow-up to the built-in ICD-10 codes in EMA.

Dr. Weisstein's AAOE educational session is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 22, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the JW Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. AAOE attendees can learn more about modmed Orthopedics by visiting Modernizing Medicine at booth #812 from Saturday, April 22 to Tuesday, April 25 during exhibit hours.
