Open Compute Project Foundation Reaches Important Milestones

Having recently hosted its Annual Summit, on March 8 to 9 in Santa Clara, California, the Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP (News - Alert)) announces today several important milestones that have been reached by the Foundation this year.

• OCP has established an open source hardware ecosystem with more than 4,000 technical professionals actively engaged in OCP projects.
• The Community has now grown to more than 200 organizational members, representing the very top echelon of technology players.
• OCP has established a governance process that has enabled rapid growth and scalability of the Community.
• OCP has established an intellectual property (IP) contribution process with 85 IP contributions to-date, and growing.
• OCP has significantly grown adoption and usage of hardware based on OCP principles, beyond board member companies to member companies.
• OCP has established product trademarks and brand protection in order to further protect the Community and its assets.

The 2017 Annual ummit saw a measurable increase in attendance, with nearly 3,000 technology leaders and influencers converging on the Santa Clara Convention Center in early March. More than 100 sessions were featured, including Keynotes, Executive Tracks, an Expo Hall with more than 100 sponsors and exhibitors, and in-depth Engineering Workshops representing each of the different project groups.

OCP looks to build on these successes in the future with the acceleration of the OCP marketplace, which features orderable components, to drive adoption and influence the industry to proactively improve the technology value chain and accelerate introduction of new technologies.

OCP also is pleased to welcome new board directors John Engates of Rackspace (News - Alert) and Joshua Matheus of Goldman Sachs. OCP thanks the contribution of the original directors, with special thanks to those that have stepped down, including Frank Frankovsky, founder and original chairperson, Mark Roenigk of Rackspace, and Don Duet of Goldman Sachs.
