Partnership for Health IT Patient Safety Launches Patient ID Safe Practices Initiative at April 20 WebinarPLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., April 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Patient misidentifications occur during every aspect of care from registration to discharge and beyond, putting thousands of patients at risk every day. The Partnership for Health IT Patient Safety, a multi-stakeholder collaborative convened and operated by ECRI Institute, is leading the national initiative to prevent patient misidentification through the safe use of health IT. In February 2017, they released the Health IT Safe Practice Toolkit on the Safe Use of Health IT for Patient Identification to help strengthen existing programs for ensuring the correct identification of patients. On April 20, 1:30 to 2:30 pm, ET, the Partnership is launching its new patient identification resource at a free educational webinar. The webinar, co-presented by the Partnership and ECRI Institute Patient Safety Organization (PSO), is designed to help healthcare leaders implement the steps outlined in the new toolkit. Faculty will address the critical roles that various stakeholders—including hospitals, outpatient clinics, health IT developers—play in improving the accuracy of patient data. Presenters include:
