The nation's technology industry continues to grow with the number of open IT positions resting above 500,000, according to TechHire. For example in Georgia, a top-five Technology State, industry decision makers rate software development jobs as the most critical to fill.

"There is a real need to help dedicated students, whether they are career changers or recent high school graduates, connect with high quality software development education. IT jobs are not just the jobs of the future they are the jobs of today," said Eric Wise, founder and chief academic officer of The Software Guild.

The Software Guild has three on-the-ground locations in Louisville, Akron and Minneapolis as well as a 10-14 month online program that will be offered by all partner universities.

The online programs will be taught by Software Guild master instructors with more than 10 years of experience an students will spend roughly 20 hours a week in a collaborative but flexible online environment. Students will have daily access to teaching assistants and instructors to ensure guidance and support throughout the program.

"It's a priority that our online students receive the same quality of instruction and support that students in our on-the-ground programs do," said Wise. "We're excited to join with these new university partners to give more students the opportunity to grow professionally while doing it in a way that works with the higher education community instead of against it."

In addition to coding experience students graduate with a high job-placement rate and will have access to The Guild's growing employer network of more than 400 member companies including Best Buy, General Electric, Progressive, and Amtrust.
