Siemens & Detroit Manufacturers Offer High School Students Intern-for-a-Day OpportunitySiemens (News - Alert) and Electro-Matic Products, Inc. will host its annual Manufacturing in America conference in Detroit, March 22-23, where more than 2,000 leaders from industry and academia attend for best practice sharing. As part of the 2017 program, being held at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, high school students will participate in seminars about careers in manufacturing. Siemens has added the opportunity for high school students to apply for a one-day internship with local manufacturers for a hands-on learning experience. By 2025, there will be two million unfilled manufacturing jobs, predicts a study by the Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte (News - Alert) Consulting. Millennials are currently the largest population and there is a need to bridge the skills gap and change perceptions about manufacturing careers in order to fill the two million+ job openings with excited, engaged millennials who are ready to be part of our companies in the future.
