SHARE San Jose Brings Together More Than 1,200 Enterprise IT Professionals


More than 1,200 IT professionals gathered at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif. for SHARE® San Jose, March 5-10. Attendees enjoyed six days with over 500 unique technical education sessions that spanned topics such as DevOps, DB2 12, cybersecurity, hybrid cloud and the evolution of the mainframe.

Professionals in attendance learned how to grow their cross-platform skills, how mobile devices create mainframe productivity and much more. The event also hosted a HackZone challenge that highlighted the power of z Systems in application development; a two-day forum for enterprise technology business executives (EXECUforum); and, two SHARE Academy classes. A special grand prize for the HackZone challenge - sponsored by SHARE, IBM and Rocket Software - and the winner will be announced on March 17.

On Tuesday, Peter Rutten of IDC, Ashok Reddy of CA (News - Alert) Technologies and Hayden Lindsey of IBM Corporation, Keith Sisson of Compuware, and Jonathan Adams of BMC Software came together for a first-of-its-kind keynote at SHARE, "The Mainframe in the Digital Age: Not Just for Legacy Workloads." Each speaker shared stories from their business in a TED-style talk that showcased innovation on the mainframe. Watch videos from the keynote here.



"Digital channels introduce technologies very, very quickly. What we need in a digital age is more than just transformation, it's change," said Keith Sisson, a presenter at Tuesday's keynote, who emphasized the importance of investing, innovating and capitalizing when it comes to the mainframe.

Also on Tuesday, attendees were treated to special education from IBM (News - Alert) Silicon Valley Lab developers as part of a "Developer Day," covering everything from Catalogs to IBM Application Delivery Intelligence.
