New Liaison Educational Microsite Helps Companies Achieve Digital Business Transformation by Modernizing Integration Infrastructures

ATLANTA, March 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Liaison Technologies, a leader in cloud-based integration and data management solutions, today announced the launch of a new educational microsite including research from Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, to help businesses achieve digital transformation.  Featuring Gartner's report titled "Strategic Roadmap for Digital Business Transformation," the microsite identifies a principle challenge businesses face in becoming fully digitalized – modernizing legacy integration infrastructures. The microsite underscores this challenge and offers a way forward whereby business can "embrace and extend" current IT environments with access to the revolutionary Liaison ALLOY Platform for integration and data management.

Gartner's October 2016 report, "Strategic Roadmap for Digital Business Transformation" advises CIOs on how to deploy the right resources within a five-stage development model required to become a digitalized business.  The report cites Gartner's CIO study which found that approximately two-thirds of enterprises are currently investigating or experimenting with digital transformation, but that few have achieved "full-scale" digital businesses.

As Gartner asserts in the featured report, companies must address infrastructure to move to digital business at scale. "Conventional IT infrastructure will not support digital business. It must expand to incorporate the many new data types emerging from the Internet of Things (IoT) and operational technology (OT). This data must be integrated with conventional data. The infrastructure must be robust enough to handle all of this data – which is perhaps an order of magnitude greater than data from IT systems alone. And it has to support real-time operations."

Liaison points out that companies seeking to achieve digital business transformation must begin to modernize their integration infrastructure immediately, with the objective of creating a robust data supply chain that takes in new and existing data sources at one end and uses advanced analytics applications to generate insights from incoming data at the opposite end. Companies require a modern integration infrastructure to connet the endpoints, one capable of integrating high-volume, high-variety and high-velocity data.

On-premises middleware systems like Enterprise Service Buses (ESB) that were architected a generation ago — prior to the rise of the cloud, big data and other transformative technologies — aren't up to the task, and their maintenance drains resources that could be better used for more strategic activities.

"Forward-thinking business leaders understand that data drives innovation, but modernizing their integration infrastructure can be a real challenge, particularly when the enterprise has made huge investments in on-premises middleware," said Alice Westerfield, Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliances at Liaison Technologies. "Some rely on iPaaS solutions as a stop-gap measure, but that consumes significant IT resources. Our new microsite can help business leaders understand how to build a strong supply chain of data that they can leverage to innovate and move toward a data-inspired future without disrupting current operations and saddling their IT teams with an endless series of DIY integration projects."

The microsite explains how Liaison's "Embrace and Extend" program enables enterprises to begin to extricate themselves from deeply embedded legacy systems while minimizing disruptions and maximizing cost savings.

Liaison describes the necessary steps to move forward, including an "embrace" phase that supports legacy solution operations via managed services and an "extend" step, which adds existing and new use cases to the Liaison ALLOY Platform, which was built for agility, extensibility and scalability. This leads to the third step: the elimination of the constraints of legacy ESB middleware, which frees resources and enables enterprises to reach their full digitalized potential with a future-proof, data-centric solution.

Liaison partners with leading global systems integration companies to support growing demand for the ALLOY Platform's extensive capabilities. The implementation experience and global scale these partners bring, coupled with the power of ALLOY, provide companies with an unmatched solution to uniquely solve complex data challenges faced by the enterprise today. With Liaison's SI partnerships, Liaison gains access to deep and diverse pools of experienced technologists, enabling the company to quickly tailor and implement services of the ALLOY Platform for global customers.

"Liaison's SI partners have also experienced a significant shift away from on-premises software and are leveraging ALLOY when working with their customers to move toward the cloud," Westerfield said.  "Working with Liaison to deploy ALLOY to their top customers enables our partners to accelerate the pace at which an enterprise can move to the cloud, in a holistic manner, across middleware and SOA services."
