Kickboard Forms Advisory Board to Strengthen the Company's Initiatives and Impact on Improving School Climate & Culture

Kickboard, an award-winning education technology company and maker of the Kickboard school culture system, today announced the formation of an Advisory Board to help guide the company's research efforts and its use of research-based tools, processes and practices to help educators improve the climate and culture in schools. The board will work under the direction of Kickboard founder and Chief Product Officer Jennifer Medbery.

"Research clearly shows that a school's culture can have a direct impact on student learning and achievement, yet many schools lack the tools and training necessary to bring about a positive change. Kickboard has helped many scools achieve great progress, but we know there's more we can do," said Stefan Kohler (News - Alert), CEO of Kickboard. "By forming this Advisory Board, we're bringing together some of the best minds in the fields that impact culture - building effective relationships, K-12 leadership, and positive behavior initiatives, for example. We plan to incorporate their expertise and guidance as we expand our current platform and professional development services into a total climate and culture solution."

The inaugural Advisory Board members are:

Tom Hierck, presenter, staff developer and author - Hierck has been an educator since 1983 in a career that has spanned all grade levels and many roles in public education. His belief that "every student is a success story waiting to be told" has led him to work with teachers and administrators to create positive school cultures and build effective relationships that facilitate learning for all students. Hierck is the author of several books, including "Seven Keys to a Positive Learning Environment in Your Classroom."

Dr. Kent Peterson, professor emeritus, Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, University of Wisconsin-Madison - Peterson has spent his professional life as a scholar of K-12 leadership. His research includes over 90 major studies and articles on the leadership of school principals and the nature of their daily work, school culture building, and successful improvement practices. Peterson is a founding director of several Principals Institutes, and through his teaching, research and consulting, he has helped principals throughout the nation and world re-envision and enhance their leadership.

Dr. Ken James, president of the Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science (Arkansas AIMS) - A lifelong educator and education administrator, James served as the superintendent of several large school districts before being appointed Commission of the Arkansas Department of Education in 2004. An early and vocal proponent of the positive school climate and culture movement, James currently oversees the daily operation of Arkansas AIMS, a nonprofit affiliated with the National Math and Science Initiative.
