Renesas Electronics America Announces Changes in President of U.S. Operations

Renesas Electronics America Inc. today announced that Mr. Hiroto Nitta has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Renesas Electronics Corporation and President of Renesas Electronics America effective April 1, 2017. Mr. Nitta replaces Mr. Ali Sebt, a 25-year Renesas veteran who will resign to pursue a career opportunity outside of Renesas. Mr. Nitta will serve as President of Renesas Electronics America through June 30, 2017, at which point Dr. Necip Sayiner, Executive Vice President of Renesas Electronics Corporation and President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Intersil Corporation ("Intersil"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas, will assume leadership. Dr. Sayiner will also continue to lead Intersil as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director.

Following the successful completion of the acquisition of Intersil announced on February 24, 2017, Dr. Sayiner was appointed Executive Vice President of Renesas Electronics Corporation. Sayiner joined Intersil as President and CEO in 2013, leading a successful reformation of the company and returning the organization to revenue growth and profitability. Prior to Intersil, Dr. Sayiner served as President and CEO of Silicon Laboratories (News - Alert) for 7 years, and was responsible for the diversification and expansion of the company's portfolio and growth in broad-based businesses. Dr. Sayiner also held leadership positions at Agere Systems (News - Alert), including Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Enterprise and Networking Division. Dr. Sayiner holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Physics from Bosphorus University in Turkey, an M.S. in Engineering from Southern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sayiner joined Intersil as President, CEO and Director on March 14, 2013. Prior to joining Intersil, from September 2005 to April 2012, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Silicon Laboratories, a fabless semiconductor company engaged in the design of analog-intensive, mixed-signal integrated circuits. Prior to joining Silicon Laboratories, Dr. Sayiner held various leadership positions at Agere Systems Inc., which included Executive Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise and Networking Division from August 2004 to September 2005; and Vice President and General Manager, Networking ICs Division from March 2002 to August 2004.

Dr. Sayiner holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Physics from Bosphorus University in Turkey, an M.S. in Engineering from Southern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
