Colorado DOT Has Adopted Datumate's Cutting Edge Mapping Tools

YOKNEAM ILLIT, Israel, February 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

Datumate's professional Site Survey Solution has helped the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to quickly and safely survey a water pond located at the highway intersection of Colorado Boulevard and I-25 in the Denver Metro area. Denver has an additional 300 water quality ponds and this technology will be primarily used to monitor the capacity of new ponds. Datumate's leading technologies will help Colorado's DOT expedite projects such as asset management, infrastructure and bridge intersection surveying, project and incident management and more, while maintaining high accuracy as well as employee safety.

To ensure the safety of travelers on the nearby highway, CDOT needed to calculate the maximal volume of water needed to fill the pond until it begins to overflow. A DJI Phantom 3 drone, managed by the DatuFly™ professional surveying app, was used for easy and harmless photoshooting. The UAV's imagery was processed using DatuSurvey™ Enterprise photogrammetry software, to quickly generate a dense point cloud, true Orthophoto images as well as water volume and maximal height calculations.  A 3D CAD model in DXF format was produced, including area topography, concrete structures and additional objects that were generated by drafting directly on the images. Project accuracy was less than 0.2ft (<6cm).

"Datumate has provided us with an important professional solution for expediting CDOT survey deliverables for projects while supporting our mission toensure a safe and efficient way to capture data along our highway system here in the Denver metro area," said Kathryn Lyon, Region 1 Central Unit Survey Coordinator at CDOT. "We're looking forward to utilizing this technology for additional jobs along high speed travel areas, as well as along mountainous, steep or unstable locations."

"We are pleased to serve CDOT for their projects needs and requirements," said Chad T. Hall, Datumate's Director for North America. "Datumate's surveying tools provide quick, accurate and safe solutions for the geospatial projects of several U.S. government agencies."

DatuSurvey™ Enterprise is photogrammetry software that automates professional surveying office work. DatuSurvey™ Enterprise turns drone and camera based images to accurate, georeferenced 2D maps and 3D models, generating a variety of outputs and calculations to expedite deliveries, save time and dramatically reduce costs.
