City of Houston Deploys Axis Cameras to Ensure Public Safety During Super Bowl LIVEAxis Communications, the market leader in network video, today announced that Axis' (News - Alert) high-resolution network cameras will be used to help secure Super Bowl LIVE, a 10-day fan entertainment festival in downtown Houston from Jan. 27-Feb. 5, 2017. The City of Houston Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security selected Axis' video and audio products to provide surveillance at and around the event's venue, Discovery Green, a 12 acre park in downtown Houston. More than one million fans are expected to experience the excitement of Super Bowl LIVE, which includes free concerts, fan games and other attractions. A combination of Axis dome network cameras, a thermal network camera and network horn speakers will be deployed throughout the venue to help monitor and secure entryways, stages and entertainment areas. Axis partner Preferred Technologies, Inc., is facilitating the system's deployment for the Houston Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, who will manage the surveillance equipment and monitor cameras from a central command center and the Houston Emergency Operations Center. Among the Axis products to be deployed are pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) dome network cameras equipped with laser focus along with Axis' Lightfinder and Wide Dynamic Range technologies to show more image details in challenging light conditions. Discreet Axis dome network cameras and a thermal network camera will also be deployed. The thermal camera will be equipped with Eagle-i Edge™, an advanced video analytics solution from Jemez Technology, designed for real-time threat detection and tracking. Each of the cameras are equipped with Axis' Zipstream technology, which helps reduce network bandwidth and storage requirements. Axis network horn speakers will also be installed to offer the ability to remotely address people and deter unwanted activity.
