LGS Innovations' CEO Kevin Kelly Named New INSA Technology and Innovation Council Chair

The Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) has named LGS Innovations CEO, Kevin Kelly, the Chair of the Technology and Innovation Council.

Since INSA's founding in 2005, the organization has helped tackle long-standing national security technology and policy challenges such as information sharing and stability during administration transition.

"As a longtime council member with extensive senior leadership experience, Mr. Kelly understands how INSA and its member organizations can best support innovation initiatives that bring government, industry, and academia together," said INSA President Chuck Alsup. "I want to thank Mr. Kelly for his willingness to take on this important responsibility and for his enthusiastic support over the years. LGS Innovations is a terrific partner and has been incredibly generous in affording Mr. Kelly the opportunity to lead the Technology and Innovation Council."

As Chair of the Technology and Innovation Council, Mr. Kelly will continue to encourage technology exchange between the government intelligence and security community, industry practitioners, and academia. Mr. Kelly succeeds Bob Farrell, who served as the original charter member and Chair of the Technology and Innovation Council for the last 10 years.

"An exchange of ideas and close collaboration is essential to science and innovation, which in turn is essential to maintaining the information and technology advantage of our armed forces," said Kelly. "INSA's work is critical to the security of our country. Those of us working with the defense and intelligence communities must continue to find ways to invest in and encouage the sciences and R&D that address tough technology challenges or we risk a widespread decline in current and future innovations initiatives."

One of Mr. Kelly's first tasks as Chair will be to organize the annual INSA Innovators' Showcase, which serves as a "classified science fair" and a platform for private sector researchers, public-private enterprises, and academia to demonstrate technologies with the potential to enhance U.S. intelligence and national security missions.

Supporting Mr. Kelly as council vice chair is Mary Majoros, chief technologist - national security segment for HP Enterprise Services.

The Technology and Innovation Council, along with the ODNI-selected government audience, plays a key role in selecting the top 24 presentations and connecting them to government scientists, technologists, engineers, and management teams from ODNI and other intelligence agencies that they might otherwise not have limited access to.
