He also contributed to a white paper that is being published by the previous Industry Agenda Council on the Future of the Health Care Sector summarizing the causes and origins of the underperformance of health systems particularly a clear misalignment across stakeholders. "Our world class physicians at Hackensack Meridian Health and the John Theurer Cancer Center are at the forefront of cancer care, driving research and innovation to create a new standard of care," said Robert C. Garrett, co-CEO, Hackensack Meridian Health, who will also be participating in the World Economic Forum Annual Summit. "As the head of one of the largest cancer centers in the nation, Dr. Goy will provide valuable insight at the World Economic Forum about the future of cancer care and the impact value-based care will have on the health industry. The collaboration of health leaders in Davos will help set an aggressive agenda for impacting global health, and we are honored to be able to participate in this important work." Dr. Goy will participate in a discussion at Davos with prominent members of the health industry and other fields on leveraging digital technology to promote behavioral changes and patient engagement in health, wellness and shared decision making. Dr. Goy's presentation will stress the importance technology will play in the future of health care shifting toward value-based care. Value-based care is dependent upon promoting behavioral changes, healthy habits, patient monitoring, patient accountability, preventive care and improved care delivery. "Over the last two years, as part of the previous Industry Agenda Council on the Future of the Health Care Sector, my colleagues and I have extensively researched the underperformance of health systems. The results of this work was summarized into a white paper, 'Misaligned Stakeholders and Health Systems Underperformance,' led by Dr. David E. Bloom, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health," said Dr. Goy. This previous council's research focused particularly on non-communicable chronic diseases which have a huge impact globally including diabetes, cancer and mental health. Their research identified misalignment of stakeholders as one of the key barriers to improving health and healthcare. Such misalignments evidently result from a number of factors including differing objectives and perspectives, power struggles, cooperation barriers etc. The white paper also outlines potential solutions to overcoming misaligned stakeholders to hep accelerate progress on global health and health care delivery, including: removing obstacles to alignment, developing technical and institutional innovations and creating new models for value-based care particularly through public-private partnerships that can foster the required changes. "I am really pleased to Co-chair with my colleague Dr. Sania Nishtar, Founder of Heart File, the new Council on the Future of Health and Healthcare. We are extremely lucky to have such a rich and broad range of world experts in our council, and together we are looking at solutions using real-time analytics, big data and technology to foster sustainable behavior changes to improve both health and healthcare," continued Dr. Goy. "This includes optimization of treatment decisions using new digital classification and stratification of patients, which will help improve outcome while also reducing redundancy and cost along the way." "The participation of our Chairman Dr. Goy in this prestigious international endeavor is a testimony to the forwardness of John Theurer Cancer Center," said Andrew Pecora, M.D., FACP, chief innovation officer and president of Physician Services at Hackensack Meridian Health. "Our physicians across the board at Hackensack Meridian Health as well are fully engaged into improving oncology care delivery including using big data and technology to support treatment decisions, research and innovation."
