Vizient Offers Three-Part Education Series "Worker Safety: Caring for Caregivers after an Unexpected Event"


Vizient, Inc. today announced that it is offering a three-part education series focused on health care worker safety. The Community Knowledge Network Education Series, "Worker Safety: Caring for the Caregiver after an Unexpected Event" is part of Vizient's Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) program offering. Part one of the series is Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. CT. The educational sessions are open to all hospitals with no cost for participants.

Worker Safety: Caring for the Caregiver after an Unexpected Event
Part 1: Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. CT
Part 2: Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. CT
Part 3: Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. CT

Participants will gain understanding of the "second victim phenomenon" and various interventional strategies to support clinicians experiencing suffering as a second victim. Presenters include Roger Leonard, MD, MMM, CPE, Safety Consultant at MedStar Health, nc. and Susan D. Scott, PhD, RN, CPPS, FAAN, Manager of Patient Safety & Risk Management from the University of Missouri Health Care System, who will share important considerations related to healthcare team members involved in an unanticipated patient event, a medical error and/or a patient related injury and who experience trauma by the event.
