Navis Opens Voting for Inspire Awards and Announces Captain Richard Phillips as Navis World 2017 Keynote

Navis also announced Captain Richard Phillips, hero of the high seas against Somali pirates and the inspiration for the movie Captain Phillips, as the keynote speaker at Navis World 2017.

The Navis Inspire Awards, sponsored by Port Technology International, are designed to recognize and celebrate excellence across the ocean supply chain and Navis customers that are driving change in the industry. Online voting for the Inspire Awards is now open on the Navis Collaboration Center (NCC). To cast your vote, log on to the NCC and give your nominee a "kudo," or thumbs up. There is no limit to the number of submissions you can vote for. The voting period will end on January 31, 2017.

Winners will be selected based on a combination of peer voting on the NCC and through final selection by the Navis and Port Technology International judging panel. Winners will then be honored during an awards luncheon during Navis World 2017 and recognized in Port Technology International.

Phillips is famously known for saving his crew and ship, Maersk Alabama, from Somali pirates during a 2009 high seas hijacking. During his presentation, 'Steering Your Ship Through Rough Waters: Lessons on Leadership,' Phillips will share his dramatic story and draw lessons from it, offering insights to help leaders, teams and organizations survive and thrive, even in times of extreme or dire circumstances.
