Dropbox Accelerates Business Adoption in the Healthcare Space

Dropbox (News - Alert) today announced that healthcare organizations including Gladstone Institutes, the Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Researchers (CEGIR), and Boston Heart Diagnostics are using Dropbox to power collaboration, representing significant growth in its paying business customers within the healthcare, life sciences, and medical research fields within the last year.

In November of 2015, Dropbox announced updates to its compliance measures, including adding support for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) compliance. Thomas Hansen, Global VP of Revenue at Dropbox said, "Dropbox provides the industrial strength security, control, and compliance standards that IT departments demand, helping us drive momentum in regulated industries like healthcare. These companies are increasingly turning to Dropbox to modernize their workflows."

Gladstone Institutes facilitates innovative scientific discoveries using Dropbox

Gladstone Institutes is a biomedical research organization that has won numerous awards, including a Nobel (News - Alert) Prize, for its breakthrough studies on stem cells and diseases such as Alzheimer's, heart disease, and HIV/AIDS. The Institute's microscopy core produces massive images, 3-D models, and videos as researchers analyze cell and tissue types. With Dropbox, investigators can quickly share these large files with collaborators around the world. "We want to provide tools that facilitate collaboration among our scientists," said Scott Pegg, PhD and CIO at Gladstone Institutes. "Dropbox helps us work faster and more efficiently so we can focus on our mission to overcome major unsolved diseases."
