Community Hospital in Alabama Installs First Toshiba Medical Aquilion Lightning CT, Bringing Advanced Technology for Safer, Comfortable Exams

Patients at Community Hospital in Tallassee, Alabama now have access to safer, high-quality CT imaging with Toshiba Medical's AquilionTM Lightning CT system. Community Hospital is the first healthcare provider in the United States to install the Aquilion Lightning with a new, more powerful 50-kW generator. Combining a wide bore, dose reduction technology and superior image quality, the system offers a cost-effective solution for exceptional patient care.

The Aquilion Lightning CT system comes with a 50-kW generator that is capable of imaging a wide range of patients and utilizes Toshiba (News - Alert) Medical's PUREViSION CT Detector technology and AIDR (Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction) 3D Enhanced to help reduce dose and improve patient safety. In addition, Adaptive Diagnostic solutions, such as Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMARTM), help simplify complex scans. These technologies, along with the industry's thinnest slices, at 0.5 mm, and a 78-cm bore, help optimize workflow ad patient comfort.

"The Aquilion Lightning CT system will help us ensure our patients continue to receive the best possible care without sacrificing the image quality we rely on for fast and accurate imaging," said Allison Stewart, radiology director at Community Hospital. "We constantly strive to provide a better patient experience with a comfortable and low-dose exam for all of our imaging needs. The Aquilion Lightning will help us continue to meet and exceed these standards. The goal of our radiology team is to make the patient feel comfortable and at ease, acquire images rapidly and accurately, and provide our clinicians with the best diagnostic images possible."

"We understand that in today's healthcare environment, patient safety and satisfaction are extremely important," said Dominic Smith, senior director, CT, PET/CT, and MR Business Units, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. "We designed the Aquilion Lightning CT system so that healthcare providers like Community Hospital can focus on what matters most - providing the best possible care to their patients."

Toshiba Medical is showcasing the Aquilion Lightning at this year's Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, November 27 - December 2, 2016 (Booth #7334, North Hall B).
