NewYork-Presbyterian Selects Mobile Heartbeat's MH-CURE Clinical Smartphone Application to Support Enterprise-Level Communications and CollaborationMobile Heartbeat, a leading provider of smartphone applications aiming to improve clinical workflow and team communications, today announced that NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), under the direction of Vice President of Technology, Leo Bodden, has selected the MH-CURE (Clinical Urgent REsponse) secure smartphone application as its clinical communications platform. The platform enables NYP to provide improved voice, secure texting, and paging between NYP's clinicians and integrate with a number of the hospital's existing IT systems. As a smartphone-based solution leveraging existing systems, MH-CURE enables significantly improved workflows. After successful completion of a pilot in the spring, NYP is rapidly deploying MH-CURE throughout its entire enterprise. Since enterprise rollout began in July, more than 4,000 users and 2,000 devices have been deployed. Once the rollout is complete, 20,000 users and 10,000 devices will be deployed at NYP's main campus locations as well as its regional hospitals. From the beginning, feedback has been very positive and adoption is nearly immediate. Bodden's deployment team consists of a multi-discipline group that includes Nursing Informatics (News - Alert) resources lead by RosemaryVentura. MH-CURE provides unified Clinical Communication and Collaboration - multiple capabilities such as secure texting, Voice over WiFi (News - Alert), paging, broadcasting, alert integration, and other clinical system integration in a single application - enabling all clinicians across the enterprise to use one device/one application for all their communications and collaboration needs. MH-CURE also incorporates patient information and real-time, patient-specific care team information, improving workflow and care team collaboration. Care team members have the choice of using their own smartphone (BYOD) or sharing hospital-supplied Apple (News - Alert) iPhones. NewYork-Presbyterian is one of the nation's most comprehensive, integrated academic health care delivery systems. Based in New York City, NewYork-Presbyterian is ranked #1 in the New York metropolitan area by U.S. News and World Report and repeatedly named to the Honor Roll of "America's Best Hospitals." With approximately 2,600 beds and more than 6,500 affiliated physicians and 20,000 employees, NewYork-Presbyterian has more than two million visits annually, including close to 15,000 infant deliveries and more than 310,000 emergency department visits. In addition to Columbia University Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian's campuses include Lower Manhattan Hospital, Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, Westchester Division and The Allen Hospital. NewYork-Presbyterian's regional hospitals include Lawrence Hospital, Hudson Valley Hospital and Queens Hospital. The nine campuses include six emergency departments. "NewYork-Presbyterian requires a powerful communications platform to meet the distinct and disparate needs across their enterprise," said Ron Remy, CEO at Mobile Heartbeat. "MH-CURE offers proven, scalable clinical communications and collaboration capabilities in an integrated communications infrastructure that supports the breadth and scale of users at NewYork-Presbyterian."
