WristView™, Point-of-Care 'Place-Anywhere' Mini MRI System for Wrist and Hand Imaging, Will Be Unveiled by Aspect Imaging at RSNA 2016

Aspect Imaging (www.aspectimaging.com), a life science company and manufacturer of state-of-the-art compact MRI systems, is exhibiting for the first time at RSNA's 102nd Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting. The WristView is a point-of-care, dedicated hand and wrist MRI system that produces high quality MR images affordably and easily.

MRI of the hand and wrist assists in timely diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, scaphoid fractures and other hand and wrist injuries. Aspect's (News - Alert) WristView does not require an RF-shielded facility, is compact and simple to operate, and cuts out the claustrophobic feelings associated with conventional full-body MRI systems. The system enables fast and effortless scanning straight from doctors' clinics, which was previously only available via a full-body system.

The WristView MRI system is a game changer in healthcare management, enabling the transition from "fee for service" models of healthcare delivery, to "value added" care models, such as enhanced patient monitoring and rehabilitation practices. According to the GDG (Guideline Development Group) of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), MRI is regarded as the most accurate and only acceptable method for detecting scaphoid fractures. Neither X-rays nor CT appeared to have sufficient sensitivity to prohibit unacceptable levels of missed fractures. The GDG also noted that MRI is able to diagnose soft tissue injuries and would therefore reduce the need for further imaging and reduce repeat hospital appointments.

Unlike most conventional full-body MRI systems, the WristView is safe and compact, and can be placed almost anywhere, requiring no special facilities or cooling systems. Preliminary screening only requires five minutes and provides high-quality results that can be easily accessed by doctors, even in medical facilities which would not normally have the budget or the specialized staff required to operate a full-body MRI scan. In addition, patients in need of a simple wrist exam, only need to insert their arm into the MRI machine, obviating the need to undergo a full-body scan. Patients can even talk on their cellphones during the exam, as the proximity of metallic objects to the WristView system is not an issue, unlike with other MRI machines.

"We are extremely excited to be exhibiting our unique MRI technology at RSNA for the first time," said Uri Rapoport, Founder, President & CEO of Aspect Imaging. "Our series of compact MRIs, including the new WristView system, are breaking barriers in the field of radiology, offering radiologists and medical experts new imaging solutions to make examinations far more effective and simple. X-ray is passé now that MRI is affordable and accessible."

In addition to the WristView, Aspect Imaging has developed and released a family of eight different products, specializing in the medical, advanced industrial, and preclinical fields. The company's MRI products are significantly more compact than the traditional MRI machine and can be placed almost anywhere, requiring no special facilities or infrastructure. Due to these smaller, easier-to-use, and more affordable systems, hospitals and private clinics are able to include them in their facilities, providing patients with more access. Importantly, Aspect's compact MRI systems do not compromise the high quality of the images generated by the MRI system. "Aspect's mission is to bring MRI to the patient - and this we have achieved with our unique permanent magnet technology at the point-of-care." Said Uri Rapoport.
