Toy Industry Association Names Wonder Workshop's Dash and Dot Robots Top Tech Toy Finalists Ahead of Holiday Gift Season

Today, the Toy Industry Association (TIA (News - Alert)) announced that Wonder Workshop's Dash and Dot robots are finalists in this year's prestigious Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards. Dash and Dot, the fun, programmable robots that bring the magic of coding to life through play, have been nominated for the top Tech Toy of 2017. The winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony held on February 17, 2017.

Dash and Dot are designed to help kids, ages 6-12, develop early programming skills through freeform play and hundreds of challenges, puzzles, and engaging interactions. Since 2015, the smart robots have gained tremendous popularity and are now used by over 8,500 schools worldwide and 5,100 robotics clubs to delight children and help them develop valuable skills for the future. The 5 free tablet and smartphone applications address different skill levels and provide a computer science growth path for years to come.

"At Wonder Workshop, we are committed to improving children's education and providing fun new ways for kids to get excited about STEM, coding, and robotics," said Vikas Gupta, chief executive officer and co-founder of Wonder Workshop. "TIA's prestigious award highlights the importance of innovation in the toy industry and the value of combining play and learning in compelling new ways. We are honored to be recognized by the Association."

This year's finalists were selected from over 700 nominees submitted by over 250 companies. The winners of the TOTY Awards will be selected by ballots cast by consumers, mass and specialty toy retailers, media and TIA members.
