ProtectWise, provider of the enterprise security platform that delivers pervasive visibility, deep analytics and an advanced user experience on demand, today announced that Co-Founder and CTO Gene Stevens, and Senior Software Engineer Richard Welsh, will speak at SuriCon, the Suricata user conference. It is open source and owned by a community-run non-profit foundation, the Open Information Security Foundation (OISF), whose mission is to remain on the leading edge of open source IDS/IPS development by welcoming in open sources technologies looking for a community to support them.

During the session, Stevens and Welch will explain how the cyber-physical landscape is changing and outline the new challenges faced by traditional IT and security teams securing Industrial Control Systems (ICS). With their own unique set of concerns and principles, ICS networks have increasingly become an attractive new attack surface for hackers. New ways of thinking about endpoints, the network, applications and protocols must be considered. In this session, Stevens and Welsh will discuss the challenges and opportunities related to ICS networks, signatures, bandwidth, processing power and network topologies, and explain why Suricata is in a strong position to provide advanced threat detection in these environments.
