Easy to Learn Block-Based Programming Software for 3D Design is Now Live on Kickstarter

NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ScratchyCAD announced the release of their block-based programming software with a Kickstarter campaign. Using their visual programming language, the team has created a parametric 3D modeling software to teach new learners 3D design with code. ScratchyCAD uses Google's Blockly combined with Three.js to create a diverse programming environment for 3D modeling, virtual reality creation, game development, and is striving for full Javascript compatibility. The team aims to take a different approach to design thinking by combining computer programming with 3D design and digital fabrication.

With the announcement of ScratchyCAD's design software, the developers seek to raise $25,000 USD via Kickstarter to complete the development of their integrated training modules covering introductions to ScratchyCAD's variety of uses. Design with code for 3D printing, virtual reality visualizations and video game design are just some of the workshops the ScratchyCAD team will be initially offering. With three weeks lef to reach their funding goal, the ScratchyCAD developers have announced they will be Open Sourcing the ScratchyCAD core JavaScript development environment, engine and API if that goal is met.

"We have been designing Open Source hardware for several years, and ScratchyCAD was built because we had access to Open Source libraries like Google's Blockly. It just feels right that we Open Source the core of the ScratchyCAD project. With this we will seek community engagement to not only make ScratchyCAD more powerful, but further develop the BlocksIDE system we created ScratchyCAD with," says Co-Founder Juan Carlos Orozco.

ScratchyCAD's focus on STEM Education lead the team to not only develop training for end users, but guided curriculum for educators as well. They have announced the development of ScratchyCAD in the Classroom, a complete instructor's guide to using ScratchyCAD to promote hands on learning and development in the classroom. Partnering with local schools and libraries, the ScratchyCAD team has spent months refining their educational curriculum and aims to share this with teachers around the world.

To help fund the project's development you can visit the ScratchyCAD's Kickstarter page:http://kck.st/2dsOs7p, where remaining pledges for as low as $20 will get you lifetime updates to the downloadable version of ScratchyCAD. Training workshops start as little as $39 or backers can receive all the available training courses for $149 USD.
