Blue Danube Systems Named to Top Start-Up Lists in Both the Semiconductor and Wireless Industries

Blue Danube Systems, a provider of mobile wireless access solutions that significantly and cost-effectively increase network capacity, today announced that it was named as both a FierceWireless (News - Alert) Fierce 15 winner and an EE Times Silicon 60 Start-up to Watch for 2016.

The annual FierceWireless "Fierce 15" list designates the top privately-held wireless companies of the year. FierceWireless editors evaluated hundreds of organizations and found Blue Danube to be one of the most "fierce" startups in the wireless industry in 2016 with potential to reshape the wireless industry.

EE Times has been updating and publishing the Silicon 60 since April 2004. The selection of the companies in Silicon 60 is based on the consideration of a mix of criteria including: technology, intended market, financial position and investment profile, maturity and executive leadership. This is the second year that Blue Danube has been included in the Silicon 60 Start-ups to Watch list.

"The 3-year old start-up plans to perform two live network trials to showcase the 3D beamforming a the heart of its business," said Colin Gibbs, editor of FierceWireless. "Blue Danube's technology works with LTE (News - Alert) networks as well as 5G technologies so it isn't waiting for standards for next-generation networks to be adopted before coming to market."

Blue Danube Systems has developed a new approach to radio access technology, specifically developed for advanced 3D beamforming in 4G, 5G and other wireless applications. The High Definition Active Antenna System (HDAAS™) platform can increase the average LTE spectrum efficiency for many typical basestation operating conditions by up to 10 times. Even higher dynamic capacity gains for mobile video streaming have already been demonstrated in a live network. By intelligently focusing radiated power where it is needed, HDAAS allows wireless carriers to better serve high-demand areas and minimize interference zones. Blue Danube's first HDAAS product, the BeamCraft™ 500, can be deployed as a low-friction upgrade to existing 4G LTE infrastructure and is compatible with existing mobile devices.

"It's an honor to be recognized by a wireless industry insights and analysis leader like FierceWireless," said Dr. Mark Pinto, CEO of Blue Danube Systems. "And being included for a second year in the EE Times Silicon 60 is a testament to the strength of our underlying IC-based beamforming innovations which are delivering on the promise of a 5G experience in a live network today."
