RainDance Technologies Showcases the Power and Precision of Its Picodroplet Platform at ASHG 2016 Annual Meeting

Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Darren Link, PhD, will host a workshop at the American Society of Human Genetics 2016 Annual Meeting. In addition to Dr. Link's presentation on the newest capabilities on the RainDrop^® Digital PCR (News - Alert) System, key collaborators from HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and iGenomX™ will share data featuring a new Single Molecule Assembly human genome sequencing application.

One of the most challenging issues with standard whole-genome Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis is that it only generates a single consensus sequence and human geneticists are unable to phase maternally and paternally derived sequence information. A vast majority of human genome assemblies are incomplete. The combination of the RainDance picodroplet platform and the iGenomX protocol enables accurate, long single molecule assembly of human genomes. This approach eliminates the inefficient and expensive steps of fragmentation, end-repair, A-tailing, ligation and the associated clean-up procedures. As a result, bias is removed, costs are reduced and more complete information is obtained from every molecule.
