DETAILS:

MdBio Foundation is partnering with W.R. Grace to celebrate Manufacturing Day, inviting approximately 20 students from Ben Franklin High School in Curtis Bay, Md., to visit the company's manufacturing facility.

The day will kick off with an overview and site tour by Operations Director Ted Lenski. Then students will visit the MdBioLab, a state-of-the art mobile laboratory operated by the MdBio Foundation, where they will participate in a hands-on science experiment discussing the production of biodiesel fuel and analyzing waste vegetable oil from a local restaurant.

During lunch, the students will participate in a plant fair, where they will learn more about various areas of the manufacturing facilities, how Grace's manufacturing processes relate back to daily life and possible future career opportunities. The day will conclude with a tour of Grace's PIC (Process Innovation Center) and ASC (News - Alert) (quality) lab.

This event is one of more than 1,900 being held worldwide on October 7 to draw attention to the need for highly skilled manufacturing workers. By working together, during and after Manufacturing Day, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the manufacturing industry.
